How to tell if a used table saw is a good deal

  • Check the arbor for runout and the blade for wobble.
  • Confirm the fence locks square and parallel at both ends of the rail.
  • Look for the riving knife, blade guard, throat plate and miter gauge.
  • Run it before you pay — listen for bearing noise or a struggling motor.
  • Raise and tilt the blade through the full range; binding gears are a common hidden repair.
